Podcast Script
Hi everyone, it’s
me, Emily the creator and author of this Homemade Baby Food blog. Thank you for
tuning in to my first video podcast. I want to take a few minutes to tell you a
little about myself and tell you about the benefits of making your own baby food.
I am the mother of one beautiful, and energetic daughter, and am also a full
time working mom in the military. So I know how hectic life can be and how
stressful expecting your first child can be. As a first time mom, I read
countless books, scoured the internet, and researched the latest tips for
raising a baby. Ultimately, I soon found that my gut was the best resource when
it came to advice, and returning to the basics helped me keep my sanity. That’s
what this blog is designed for, to inspire parents to return to the basics of
holistic, natural, homemade baby food. Whether you’re a parent of 5 of
expecting your first little one. And I’m not saying that we all have to become
Martha Stewart, after all, we are still real parents, with jobs, and families,
and lives. But, with a little preparation, know-how, and encouragement from one
another, it can be a fun, rewarding experience to make your own baby food for
your little one. Making homemade baby food allows you to introduce only the
ingredients you want with no added preservatives or sugars, and in appropriate
portions. Not too much, not too little. And, as your little one grows, like
mine, at 2 years old, she is eager to help make her own food and has a love of
healthy eating and eating her fruits and vegetables. I hope you all are as
excited as I am to dive into some fresh bananas and avocados and learn some
great recipes for homemade, natural baby food!

Suggest a podcast that features a how-to guide to podcasting. What did you like about the podcast?
What I like most about this how-to-guide for podcasting, is that it’s all encompassing. There are no follow on, 1 of 10, series to watch after in order to know how to podcast.

Suggest a site, podcast, or video that provides communication advice. What did you like about your choice?
This site, about scripting podcasts, has great podcast communication tips. I liked the tip about having a set word count for scripts that will help keep you from going too long. URL: http://radix-communications.com/scripting-podcasts-three-tips-for-writing-podcast-episodes/

Unit 7 Posting
Podcasts need to be planned around the audience. The point
of a blog is to reach out to people concerning a certain topic, and a podcast
embedded into a blog is no different. In order to attract an audience with a
podcast, length is key. Today’s society is all about “bites” of information.
Short, concise, and clear podcasts will have more of an impact than a 15 minute
long formal speech (Starak, n.d.). Also, making sure that the podcast is
relevant to your blog will ensure that it attracts your desired demographic.
Make sure that you are keeping your target demographic in mind and speak to
them in language they are familiar with and will understand.

A
tip for choosing colors:
Color choices for text on a blog should be easily legible and pleasing to the eye. Background colors and themes should evoke the proper emotion to correlate with your message.

A tip for adding your personal touch to a blog:
Personal photos provide viewers insight into who you are
and allow you to demonstrate your message in action. They also set the mood and
give authenticity to your blog.Unit 3 Posting
One of the greatest advantages of using a microblog is the audience that
they can reach. Twitter is arguably the 11th largest site with over
180 million unique visitors a month (Schonfeld, 2010). With that large of an
audience you can ensure that your information is reaching the maximum number of
people possible. The same goes for Facebook, you have the ability to reach a large audience. To me, one disadvantage of microblogs is that anyone can put
out information without filters or checks of verification. My first experience with microblogging is with the Homemade Baby Food Microblog for this site on Facebook. I hope to continue to gain more knowledge about microblogging and welcome your comments and suggestions.

First Post & First Food
As avocado was the first solid food I introduced to my
daughter, it only makes sense that avocado is the debut topic for my fist blog
post. Avocado has all of the necessary nutrients to sustain the human body and
is a great super-food with over 12 vitamins and minerals in a single serving.
On top of that, it is soft and mash-able for baby gums, new teeth, and small
throats.
Shopping Tip: When testing if an avocado is ripe, it should be dark
green and little bit soft when gently squeezed.
Another way to tell if an avocado is ripe is to test if the stem is easily removed. A ripe avocado’s stem can be removed by just a quick flick of the
thumb.When feeding avocado to your little one, simply;
·
slice the avocado open
·
de-pit
·
spoon out the meat
·
mash the meat with a fork
·
serve and enjoy!
Stay tuned for more recipes including this super-food and great first food for babies.
